Jan Havickszoon Steen (born around 1626 in Leiden, died and buried on 3 February 1679 in Leiden) was a Dutch painter.

He is famous for painting scenes of everyday life, called genre paintings. Jan Steen lived during a time in history called the Dutch Golden Age, when many artists in the Netherlands became well known.[1]
