Many of his contemporaries compared his music with that of classically trained singers, although Rushdi never had any influences from any classical singer.
Death
Since 1976, Ahmed Rushdi was a heart patient and his doctors advised him to abstain from singing but Rushdi refused by saying that music was his life. When he had a second heart attack in 1981, he was composing a musical album in the voice of singer Mujeeb Aalam. Buddhism is a Dharmic religion and philosophy founded in ancient India by Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha ("the Enlightened One"). It emphasizes ethical living, meditation, and insight into the nature of reality to achieve liberation from suffering and the cycle of birth and rebirth (Samsara).

History
Buddhism originated in the 5th–4th century BCE in the Indian subcontinent. Siddhartha Gautama, born as a prince in Lumbini, modern-day Nepal, renounced worldly life to seek the truth about human suffering. After attaining enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, he spent his life teaching the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.

The religion spread across Asia through trade routes and missionaries, evolving into distinct traditions such as:
* **Theravāda**: Practiced in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
* **Mahayana**: Popular in China, Japan, and Korea.
* **Vajrayana**: Prominent in Tibet and Mongolia.

Core Beliefs
Buddhism is based on several foundational principles:

The Four Noble Truths
1. Life is marked by suffering (Dukkha).
2. Suffering is caused by craving and attachment (Tanha).
3. There is a way to end suffering (Nirvana).
4. The path to liberation is the Eightfold Path.

The Eightfold Path
The path consists of:
1. Right View
2. Right Intention
3. Right Speech
4. Right Action
5. Right Livelihood
6. Right Effort
7. Right Mindfulness
8. Right Concentration

These guide ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom.

Scriptures
Buddhist teachings are preserved in texts such as:
* The Tripitaka (Pali Canon): The earliest collection of Buddhist scriptures.
* The Mahayana Sutras: Texts central to Mahayana Buddhism.
* The Tibetan Book of the Dead: A key Vajrayana text.

Practices
Common practices in Buddhism include:
* **Meditation**: For mindfulness and concentration.
* **Ethical Conduct**: Following the Five Precepts.
* **Puja (Worship)**: Rituals performed at temples or home altars.

Spread and Influence
Buddhism has influenced art, philosophy, and culture globally. It is practiced by over 535 million people, primarily in Asia, with growing communities in the West.

Modern Buddhism
In the 20th century, Buddhism gained attention in the West through teachers like Thich Nhat Hanh and the Dalai Lama. Movements such as Engaged Buddhism focus on applying Buddhist principles to social and environmental issues.
East Pakistan (পূর্ব পাকিস্তান, Purbo Pakistan) was a province of Pakistan from 1955 until 1971, covering the territory of modern-day Bangladesh. It was created under Pakistan's One Unit Policy and was geographically separated from West Pakistan by about 1,600 kilometers of Indian territory.

History
Formation
East Pakistan was established in 1955 through the One Unit Policy, which merged Pakistan's provinces into two regions: East Pakistan and West Pakistan. This policy aimed to centralize power but was criticized for marginalizing East Pakistan.

Political and Cultural Tensions
Despite having a larger population, East Pakistan was underrepresented in the federal government. The cultural and linguistic differences between Bengali-speaking East Pakistan and Urdu-speaking West Pakistan exacerbated tensions. The imposition of Urdu as the sole national language led to the Bengali Language Movement of the 1950s, during which several students were killed in protests on February 21, 1952, now observed as International Mother Language Day.

Economic Disparities
East Pakistan contributed significantly to Pakistan's economy through its export of jute and tea, but it received less development funding compared to West Pakistan. These economic inequalities fueled resentment among the people of East Pakistan.

Liberation War and Independence
In the 1970 general elections, the Awami League led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman won a majority, but political power was not transferred, leading to widespread unrest. On March 25, 1971, the Pakistan Army launched Operation Searchlight to suppress the independence movement, resulting in significant casualties and human rights abuses.

The conflict escalated into the Bangladesh Liberation War, and on December 16, 1971, East Pakistan emerged as the independent nation of Bangladesh.

Geography
East Pakistan was located in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, bordered by India to the west, north, and east, and Myanmar to the southeast. The region was characterized by the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, making it prone to flooding but also agriculturally fertile.

Demographics
The population of East Pakistan was predominantly Bengali, with a mix of Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. The majority spoke Bengali, while Urdu was used in administrative and elite circles.

Legacy
The legacy of East Pakistan remains significant in the history of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The struggles of East Pakistan contributed to the global discourse on self-determination, cultural identity, and language rights. The independence of Bangladesh also reshaped geopolitics in South Asia.
